After years fighting for equal rights, the LGBTQ+ community celebrated the ruling of Obergefell v. Hodges in 2015 when the Supreme Court stated that the fundamental right to marry is guaranteed to same-sex couples by the 14th amendment. Four years later, the LGBTQ+ community appears to have lost much of the momentum and progress that fueled the movement to secure the right to marry. The federal government continues to advance discriminatory policies that undermine LGBTQ+ rights and many fear that LGBTQ+ individuals may be denied basic protections from discrimination. Join us for a discussion on both the regression and challenges that the LGBTQ+ community has faced, and hear from experts in the field on the prognosis for a path forward.
