Zemer Chai, The Jewish Chorale of the Nation’s Capital
Presents “ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE”
Sunday June2 – 7:00 PM
Zemer Chai, the Jewish Chorale of the Nation’s Capital, is performing an uplifting concert entitled “All You Need Is Love” on June 2 at 7 PM at B’Nai Israel Congregation, 6301 Montrose Rd, Rockville, MD 20852
The focus of this concert is on love — romantic love, familial love, love across difference, love of nature, love of our traditions and love of life performed in Hebrew, Yiddish, Ladino and English using choral arrangements from the 13th Century to the present.
Featuring contemporary American settings of the evocative love poetry of the Song of Songs, including the Washington area premiere of Dodi Li by Gerald Gohen, the majestic Renaissance music of Salomone Rossi, the elegant and haunting music of Israeli composer Yehezkel Braun, precious gems from the Yiddish theater, the music of Leonard Bernstein, Stephen Schwartz and more. The concert will highlight the acclaimed Klezmer clarinetist, Seth Kibel.
Celebrating its 43rd year of bringing high quality Jewish choral music to the Maryland/DC/Virginia area, Zemer Chai continues to pursue its mission to preserve this unique Jewish art form. “The music in this concert paints an exquisite portrait of love in all its honest and complex variations at a time when love is all we need” said Eleanor Epstein, the founder and artistic director of Zemer Chai.
Tickets are available at www.ZemerChai.org or 301-963-3462. Preferred seating is $40; general admission is $20, $25 at the door.
